Modern & Bauhaus Inspired
KITCHEN DESIGN SERVICES
One of the most recognized projects that was successfully executed is the contemporary home (known as “Taringa House”) designed by Loucas Zahos Architects. The project involved renovating a two-bedroom Queensland cottage and its addition at the back, highlighting the surrounding vegetation, and maximizing the indoor-outdoor relationship. The interior of the home compliments the Architecture through the selection of bespoke cabinetry, as well as contemporary designer furniture and lighting. The designer’s collaboration process with the client, which encompassed designing cabinetry, selecting finishes, paint colours and soft furnishing, was paramount to complete the scheme and compliment the client’s contemporary living style.
The overall look for this project combined form and function to replicate the same design ethic as the great twentieth-century modernist architects from the Bauhaus era. The Interior Designer’s contribution to the kitchen observed through the selection of the Statuario marble benchtop against the basalt tiled floors for a clean but sophisticated look. The marble surfaces become the highlight, surrounded by the minimal back wall cabinetry as well as accents created by the darker tapware. The transparent glazing was carried through to the kitchen envelope providing for an abundance of natural light, and to add to this was the introduction of warmer colour tones of timber in the adjacent dining area through the selection of furniture and the Screenwood cladding. The designer had to consider the low-maintenance qualities of all the specified selections to minimize the work undertaken by the client.
